You’re planning your dream day. You obviously want to hire the best people to make that happen! How do you know that you’re booking the right vendors?
This episode is geared towards couples who are overwhelmed and want to book their dream vendors! But vendors, listen up too, we’ve got some practical tips on what we think is important to convey when couples inquire.
So what are our top tips for booking the right vendors?
Referrals! These are soooo important and honestly might be our biggest tip in the wedding planning process. Trust other vendors and other couples who have gone through the process to know who is good and who to look out for.
Reviews. When we say reviews we don’t mean the ones on vendors’ websites, those are obviously tailored and chosen because they are the best ones. Our biggest tip to finding the right reviews is to reach out to other brides and grooms, even if you don’t know them, and ask for an honest review of the people they hired. It may seem sneaky and dishonest but trust us, we’ve seen this happen and approve 100%!
Rendezvous. (Alliteration joke, you gotta listen to the podcast!) But for real, meet up virtually or in person before you book them. You should feel important to your vendors throughout the entire process and will be able to get a good sense of who they are when talking to them. Do they make you feel important or is it all about them? Throw some tough questions their way – how do they respond? Do you both get along? Personality differences are hard to notice over email, and who knows what that will look like on a potentially stressful day like a wedding.
Bonus tip:
When booking a photographer, ask for a full wedding gallery! Their Instagram is just the best of the best. You need to see how many photos they give you, how they shoot the details, how dance floor photos are shot, if you get a feel for the entire day looking at the gallery, etc.
Indoor ceremony? Ask for a gallery with an indoor ceremony. We’ve seen plenty of photographers that can shoot amazing photos on a cliffside beach during sunset, but struggle when it comes to shooting other parts of the day. Seems harsh? Maybe a little. But wouldn’t you rather know prior to making this decision?
Overall, trusting your gut is key to booking the right vendors. It seems daunting, but it’s important to weed out the ones you don’t vibe with. You got this!
